“The Robber” – Sterling Silver Sculpture

$280,000.00

“The Robber” was designed and hand crafted by multi award-winning jeweller Paul Amey in Australia. Paul’s first ever sculpture is stamped with his registered makers mark and precious metal marks and was completed in April 2020 with over 160 hours of labour.  All components were masterfully handcrafted by Paul Amey with no casting or 3D imaging used.  Diamond and stone settings were all carried out by Paul Amey.

The objet d’art consists of a mother of pearl moon setting at dawn through wispy clouds.  The albatross is embarking for a days fishing while the surfboard has been stashed overnight ready for its owner to catch an early morning wave before the rigours of the day.  A light breeze wafts around the driftwood structure, concealing the early morning “Robbers” making their presence known.  The lizard looking for breakfast, the seagull spying, the octopus creeping over the rocky outcrop to investigate the thong left by the surfer, molluscs and crabs enjoying the morning tide, with waves gently breaking over the ocean edge and the life preserver lying in wait for the unfortunate soul who ventures too close to the elements.

Tarnish resistant sterling silver, 518.4 grams of silver (16.66 oz) has been hand-made into 36 individual pieces to make this sculpture.  These pieces are overlaid on driftwood sourced from the salt lakes north of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia and believed to be many hundreds of years old.  Paul chose a jasper and haematite stone from north Western Australia, with natural outer edges and a polished top as the base for this sculpture.  The mother of pearl “moon” is from a Broome, Western Australia pearl shell and has been specially hand carved by Paul Amey.
